W3sendonck(2006)
This project was developed as an extension to my graduation-research about the manifestation of synergy in audiovisualization (for more info check ‘Thesis Audiovisual Synergy’).
With this research I graduated with a European Masters in Media and Art-degree (EMMA) in 2006.
Mezzosoprano Ellen van Beek and I collaborated in 2006 to reinterpret the ‘Wesendonck’-lieder by high-romantic composer Richard Wagner.
The ‘W3sendonck Lieder’ are a manifestation of the forbidden love between Richard Wagner and the wife of his sponsor Mathilde Wesendonck. Music composed by Richard Wagner, lyrics extracted from the love poems written by Mathilda in the secret correspondence between the two.
Befriended music-producer Thomas Hopman helped us to record the music the way it was intended by Wagner (which was quite unique).
I visualized the Highly Romantic songs in a postmodern workmethod resulting in a live VJ-show and DVD with high-romantic visual characteristics (see use of natural light in ‘Der Engel’)
role in this project: projectleader and initiator in cooperation with mezzosoprano Ellen van Beek.
